English Typing Test

Raw WPM is every character you typed divided by five, then divided by the minutes elapsed. Net WPM — the score shown at the top of your result — subtracts your uncorrected errors from that figure. This is the convention used by SSC, CPCT and other government typing examinations, which is why we use it.

It costs you time, not marks. A mistake you go back and correct does not count against your Net WPM, because the final text is right — but it does lower your accuracy, since accuracy counts every keystroke you made. An error you leave uncorrected reduces your Net WPM directly.

Yes. The passage scrolls within its own panel rather than down the page, so your current line stays visible above the on-screen keyboard. A physical keyboard will always be more comfortable for a long test, but nothing is hidden or broken on a phone.

Because a pasted passage is not a typing measurement. We block it outright rather than quietly voiding your attempt afterwards, so you find out immediately instead of after spending five or ten minutes.

No. The test runs entirely in your browser — what you type is never uploaded, and this page sends no result anywhere. There is no account and no sign-up.
