Why Practice Without a Timer?
Building phonetic Urdu typing muscle memory takes repetition. Practice mode removes the countdown so you can focus entirely on accuracy — your live WPM and accuracy still show, but nothing ends the session early. When you're ready, take the timed Urdu Typing Test.
Frequently Asked Questions
The Urdu Typing Test is timed — you pick a duration and it ends when time runs out or you finish the passage. Practice removes the clock entirely: you type at your own pace and it ends only when you finish the passage or click Exit. A short pause to think is normal typing rhythm and still counts, but anything longer than a few seconds is discounted from your active time. Your personal best is shared between Test and Practice, since both measure the same thing.
Type Roman Urdu using the English keyboard you already have — the same way you would on the Urdu Typing Tool. There is no separate native-keyboard mode; every passage is typed phonetically.
Only if the pause is unusually long. A brief pause between words — the normal rhythm of remembering a word or checking the target text — still counts as active typing time. Only the part of a pause beyond a few seconds is excluded, so a single long break won't quietly inflate your WPM, but it also won't punish an ordinary moment of thought.
Because there isn't one to measure against honestly. Hindi's typing pages compare your WPM to real, published exam requirements (SSC CHSL, CPCT). No equivalent verified Urdu government typing-exam standard exists, so this page shows your WPM and accuracy only — nothing invented.
Your typed text is never stored on our servers. Your personal best WPM is saved locally on your device (browser localStorage) only — it never leaves your device.
